UCC Bans ABS Tv Programmes Over Nudity

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has directed Pastor Yiga’s Tv station, ABS Tv to stop airing three of its programes.

The three programes wanted off the screens include; Kalondozi, Nabawalanyi and Oluwombo Lwa Bafumbo.

According to the communications regulatory body, the three programmes breach the Minimum Broadcasting Standards set out in Section 31 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013.

“The Commission, henceforth, directs ABS TV to stop broadcasting these programmes with immediate effect. We, therefore, call on the general public to accord us your usual cooperation incase this directive is breached by the station in question,” it writes in its statement to the station.

This is the second time that ‘Kalondozi’, the local version of ‘Cheaters’ is being banned. The program was first banned late last year but was reinstated early this year following the station’s promise to weed out the contents that UCC found to be explicit.

Meanwhile, this comes barely a week when UCC threatened NTV with closure if they continued hosting social critic, Frank Gashumba
