President’s Vehicle knocks bodaboda cyclist to death

A vehicle belonging to the Office of the President has knocked dead a boda boda motorcycle rider in Dokolo town.

The double cabin pick-up registration Number UG 1785C was heading from the direction of Soroti towards Lira when the driver knocked the cyclist, reports Uganda Radio Network.

Amis Kayondo, the Dokolo District Police Commander identified the deceased as Morish Ogwang Odyang, a resident of Western Ward, Atur parish in Dokolo.

He said the accident occurred on Monday evening when Ogwang was crossing the road to attend to a customer.

Daily Post Uganda has learnt that Juma Tamalie, the Nebbi District Internal Security officer -DISO was the one driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

DPC Kayondo confirmed to the press that Juma recorded a statement at Dokolo Central Police station before he was released.

He said police is investigating the cause of the accident that occurred at about 6pm.

He said the vehicle is being held at Dokolo Central Police Station.
