Parliament is set to go into recess for a period of over a month.
This has been revealed by the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga while presiding over Tuesday evening’s session.
She asked committees to hurry up and compile their reports on the work they have been doing before 6th Octoberwhen it is expected to go on a holiday.
It’s against that background that Kadaga she has postponed all sittings for this week. She says this is to enable committees to work both in the morning and afternoon to be ready for next week’s sittings.
“All ongoing work must be ready by the end of this week so that you present on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdayjust before we go on recess” Kadaga said.
“I also want to remind government that since we commenced they have not brought any business to this house” she added.
Parliament is expected to go on holiday from 6th October to 14 November.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that it is less two weeks when parliament resumed following the absence of both speakers of parliament.
Both Kadaga and her deputy, Jacob Oulanya had travelled to the US for the UNAA convention. They spent over two weeks away.
