KAMPALA: Urban TV, a subsidiary of Vision Group, has reportedly ceased its broadcasting services, resulting in the layoff of numerous employees.

The news of this development came through Robin Kisti, one of its presenters known for hosting the “Short Circuit” show.

In a social media post, Kisti expressed her gratitude to her viewers while informing them about the closure of Urban TV.

She stated, “To all my fans that watch me, I just wanted to let you know that you will no longer be seeing me because Urban TV is closing and all of us will no longer be on air! Thank you for the love you showed me, now I am on to the next chapter.”

Established in 2011, Urban TV, under the umbrella of Vision Group, has been a prominent English entertainment television station, offering a variety of news and current affairs programs.

The station was conceived to cater primarily to the youth demographic, ensuring that Vision Group adequately addressed issues relevant to them.

However, with the unexpected cessation of broadcasting operations, many employees find themselves abruptly without employment.

The closure of Urban TV marks a significant change in the media landscape, impacting both viewers and staff members alike.

As of now, there has been no official statement released by Vision Group regarding the reasons behind Urban TV’s closure or any plans for the future of its employees.

The sudden halt in operations has left many unanswered questions among both the affected staff and loyal viewers of the station.
