A furious Speaker Rebecca Kadaga this evening called the Court order issued by the Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma stopping Parliament from investigating the Oil Cash Bonanza “stupid” and directed the Attorney General to appeal it.
In a heated session, Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutuna succeeded in brandishing Kavuma’s order stopping Parliament from investigating the officails that shared Shs6b amongst themselves.
Kadaga first tried to reject the Court Order, arguing that it was filed when Parliament was in session, effectively nullifying it but Rukutuna proved her wrong when he tabled a Court Order emblazoned with the Clerk to Parliament’s stamp.
Kadaga was basing on the Powers and Priveleges of Parliament Act.
In Parliament, an angry Kadaga ruled that Kavuma’s order is “stupid” and directed the Attorney General to vacate it immediately.
In retaliation, Kadaga ruled that Parliament will be indefinitely suspended until the Court order is vacated.
