Oxfam Executive Director Winnie Byanyima this morning stormed Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court to support the bail application of her nephews Mathew and Joseph Kanyamunyu.
The two face murder charges related to the shooting of social worker Makmot Akena who was gunned down in Lugogo over scratching Mathew’s car. Mathew’s girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari is the third murder suspect.
Donning a resplendent blue kitenge, Byanyima appeared at Court in a sombre mood and calmly followed proceedings. Byanyima has rarely publicly commented about the case that divided the country along tribal lines.
