A Kalita bus from Kampala heading to Kabarole was involved in a fatal accident in Rwibale Kyenjojo district, western Uganda which left more than seven people dead and at least 36 seriously injured.
The accident occurred when a bus, Reg. No. UAJ 409T owned by Kalita Bus Company collided with a canter Reg. No. UAU 831Q which was carrying tea leaves.
Kyenjojo District Police Commander, Mr Martin Mbabazi blamed the canter driver saying he left his lane and entered the bus’ lane thereby causing the accident.
“Seven people died on spot. However, the number could be bigger because several people were rushed to different health facilities in critical conditions before we arrived,” said Mbabazi, adding that at least 36 were injured.
