ASP Mohammad Kirumira affected in Police reshuffle

Uganda’s Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura has announced the transfer of 29 division and District Police Commanders across the country that have also affected popular police boss, Afande Mohammad Kirumira.

The list was issued by Okoth Ochola, the Deputy Inspector General of Police. “The transfer of the following officers take immediate effect,” reads the message in part.

According to the transfer list issued on Wednesday evening, Muhammad Kirumira, the Old Kampala Divisional Police Commander now moves to Buyende, the Kiira DPC Michael Kasigire has been transferred to Kiryandogo while Kenneth Muheirwe Muketu, the Buyende DPC moves to Kampala Metropolitan as Staff Officer Operations.

Kirumira is popular for his campaign against infamous thieving gang, Kifeesi.

In July, he busted a training “laboratory” for Kifeesi thugs in what was seen as a success against the rising crime in the city.

“We have busted a criminal lab called the Vimpire aka Malaalo Boxing Club located between Namungona and Lugala near Kigobe area. This place houses members of both Kifeesi and B13 thugs who spend their day time smoking marijuana and chewing mayirunji and training boxing. When they retreat, they enter video halls and spend time up to 7pm when they go to jammed places and snatch phones from innocent people,” Kirumira said after the operation.
