Arsenal and Chelsea given SHOCKING number of tickets for Europa League final

Baku Olympic Stadium

AGENCIES: Arsenal and Chelsea fans were left raging after discovering that their sides have both been given just 6,000 tickets for the Europa League final.

The final will be played at the Olympic Stadium, in Baku, Azerbaijan, a stadium which holds 68,700 fans.

However, UEFA has only made 12,000 tickets available for fans of the two teams, meaning both sides have been given just over 10 per-cent of tickets available.

The two London sides both secured their spots in the final last night, ensuring that both European competition finals will be contested by four English teams.

Arsenal posted a message on their official website describing the allocation as “disappointing”, while apologising to fans who will be unable to attend.

“We have been informed by UEFA that both clubs will receive an allocation of just 6,000 tickets each for the match.

“We are in active discussions with UEFA for more tickets for our fans but this disappointing ticket allocation obviously presents us with extreme difficulties in how we allocate tickets to you, our loyal supporters.

“As many of you will be aware, we are proud to have approximately 45,000 season ticket holders and over 180,000 official members.

“It is inevitable that with an allocation of just 6,000 tickets for the final, there will be thousands of fans who have supported the club for years and been part of our Europa League journey this season, who will be unable to attend this match.

“This is a disappointing situation and as a result of our allocation we will be offering tickets via the process below.”

Fans immediately tweeted their frustrations after the news was announced, with many questioning why UEFA had held so many tickets back.

“6000 tickets is a joke,” one fan wrote.

Another posted: “That’s a disgrace, Chelsea and Arsenal only allocated 6000 tickets.”

“UEFA are an absolute disgrace. The stadium in Baku holds 69,000 fans, yet Arsenal and Chelsea fans will receive an allocation of just 6000 tickets each. What an absolute disgrace that is. Football is for the fans,” another wrote.

The Gunners secured their spot in the final with an impressive 4-2 win away at Valencia, having won 3-1 at home in the first leg.

In slightly more dramatic circumstances, Chelsea beat Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties after back-to-back 1-1 draws.

Eden Hazard’s winning penalty served as a fitting potential farewell ahead of his proposed move to Real Madrid this summer.
