UNEB releases 2016 PLE, UCE, UACE timetables

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released time tables for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

According to the timetables, Primary seven pupils will start with briefing on November 1 and sit for the exams on November 2 and 3.
A total of 640,690 pupils registered for the examinations, with 488,224 at government aided schools and 152,466 at private schools.
Senior four students will be briefed on Friday October 14 and start their exams on Monday October 17 with a Physics Practical. They will end on November 23 with optional subjects; Music and technical drawing.

UNEB expects 323,233 students to sit for the exam at 3,454 centres. The number of candidates has shot up by 8,500 students from 314,286 who sat last year.

Senior six students will be briefed on November 11, and start writing their exams on Monday November 14 until November 30. A total of 104,315 registered for the exams at 2,076 centres.

UNEB spokesperson, Hamis Kaheru, called on parents and guardians are advised to contact the respective schools to check the status of registration of their children.

“They can also use SMS to get the information on mobile phone by typing: Reg<space>full index number and send to 6600. For example, to check for candidate No.003 at centre number U80037, type Reg U80037/003 and send to 6600,” he said.

Meanwhile the board’s new Executive Secretary Mr. Daniel Odongo has given candidates the discretion to contact him directly in cases where examination paper envelops are tampered with prior to the exams.

This year’s examinations are going to be Mr. Odongo’s first set in his five year tenure as Executive Secretary, after the long serving Matthew Bukenya retired early this year.
