NRM suspends primaries elections in Sembabule over violence

The Electoral Commission Chairperson for the National Resistance Movement, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has indefinitely suspended the Sembabule District elections over violence.

There have been fights recorded between supporters of the contesting candidates, Joseph Ssekabiito Kitayimbwa and the Sembabule district Woman MP Hanifa Bangirana Kawooya.

The NRM EC first announced the postponement of Mawogola North, then later suspended that all elections in Sembabule was suspened.

In Lweyiga constituency, Theodore Ssekikubo is tussling it out with Ms. Joy Kabatsi in Lwemiyaga while in Mawogola North, Shartsi Musherure Kutesa is competing with Mr. Godfrey Aine Kaguta also known as Sodo.

Odoi has also warned contestants in districts; Mityana, Kazo, Sheema, Tororo, Bushenyi, Rwampara, Isingiro, Hoima, Butaleja, Amudat and Kyenjojo among others to desist from a violent contest or they risk their elections to also be canceled.
