President has directed Micro-Finance Support Centre under the ministry of finance to handover Shs9.7 billion meant for the teachers’ SACCO.
The president revealed this yesterday at Lugogo while presiding over teachers day celebrations
The Uganda National Teachers Union has been in dispute with the micro-finance support centre over SACCO money.
This website understands that the Teachers’ SACCO first got Shs5.8bn and the remaining Shs9.7bn was channelled to Micro-Finance Support Centre.
“I heard some people took some of that money away from the sacco, they should return it.,” said President Museveni.
Museveni also pledged to improve the welfare of Teachers
“The next phase is to deal with teachers houses so that the issue of renting and living far from school stops.
We have introduced a loans scheme for students who performed well but did not access government scholarship at university.”
