The Parliamentary Public accounts committee yesterday grilled officers form Ministry of Health over the mismanagement of Global Funds money in 2009 to 2011.
Public Accounts Committee has also learnt that the ministry of health has recovered only Shs23 million out of the Shs1.8 billion that was stolen.
The Committee has now for two days in a row grilled the officers to answer queries raised by the Auditor General’s report of 2014 – 2016.
According to the Auditor General’s Report, this money meant for interventions against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, was misused between 2009 and 2011 by service providers implementing the project.
The Committee also requested the officials to submit the designs of the hospitals being constructed in various parts of the country.
