KCCA to close roads Leading to City Center

Several roads leading to the city center are to be close this weekend ahead of Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA)’s City Festival slated for October 2nd.

The KCCA head of security, Rushoke Kituuma has told media that all roads leading to the city center will be closed effective Saturday midnight “to enable city dwellers enjoy the event without any disruption from traffic”.

He adds that only pedestrians will be allowed to access the roads leading to the center because all of them have been gazetted for business men and women who will be selling their merchandise at the event.

KCCA invested shs800million into the carnival, according to the authority’s Executive Director, Jenifer Musisi.

Unlike the previous carnivals, Musisi also revealed that this year’s carnival will run for two days.

She further added that revelers will also have access to free wifi.

“Those within the gazzeted areas during the carnival will have free internet,” she said.

The event will climax on Sunday, beginning at 9am and closing at 11.59pm.
