President Museveni has written a sweet note to his wife Janet as she celebrates her 69th birthday today June 24, 2017. The President took to his official Twitter and Facebook accounts to declare his love and affection to his partner in crime, writing: “A happy birthday to Janet Museveni, a true matriarch to very many.”
She has been the First Lady of Uganda for the past 31 years since 1986. She is married to President Museveni, with whom she has four children; Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Natasha Karugire, Patience Rwabwogo and Diana Kamuntu.
She has been Minister of Education and Sports in the Cabinet of Uganda since 6 June 2016. She previously served as Minister for Karamoja Affairs from May 27, 2011 to June June, 2016. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament representing Ruhaama County in Ntungamo District from 2011 to 2016. She published her autobiography, My Life’s Journey, in 2011.
