MP survives car accident with a broken leg

Erute north county Member of Parliament, Mr Charles Angiro Gutomoi after the accident in Kiryandongo District.

KIRYANDONGO: Mr Charles Angiro Gutomoi , Erute north county Member of Parliament, has this morning been involved in an accident in Kiryandongo District.
Gutomoi was traveling from his constituency in Lira district and was heading to Kampala.

The accident reportedly occurred near Karuma bridge.
Albertine regional police spokesperson Mr Julius Hakiza said the legislator was driving himself in a vehicle registration number UAV 089G when he collided with a Fuso truck registration number UAJ 730U near Karuma Bridge at about 3am.

Mr Gutomoi was rushed to Kiryandongo hospital where he received first aid.
The accident has been registered under TAR 69/2018 at Kiryandongo central police station.

The Kiryandongo hospital medical superintendent, Dr Godfrey Kisembo who attended to the MP said the legislator sustained a broken leg.

“He had a compound fracture on his right leg and he was bleeding,” Dr Kisembo said.
He said the MP was also complaining of pain in his ribs.
“We treated him. He has however been referred to Mulago national referral hospital, ” Dr Kisembo added.

This comes two weeks after another MP survived a car crash.
On May 15, Buyaga East MP Eric Musana sustained head injuries in a motor accident at Busimbi town in Mityana District on his way back to Kampala.
