Kampala Experiences Two-Day Water Shutdown

Following a press statement issued by the National Water and Sewerage Cooperation (NSWC), several parts of Kampala are to experience a 48-hour water shutdown starting today.

The areas affected include; the City Centre, parts of Gayaza, Kanyanya, parts of Kyanja, Komamboga and parts of Bwaise.

According to NWSC’s principle public relations officer, Viviene Newumbe, the 48-hour interruption is to allow pipe reconnection works at Nakasero to evacuate more water and improve water supply in the central business district.

This follows the recent completion of expansion and rehabilitation works at the Gaba, aimed at expanding water production capacity from 190 million Litres of water per day to 240 million litres per day to Kampala Water Supply Area.

This is the third time NWSC is shutting down water supply to allow reconnection of pipes to the new system to meet the demand.
