RIP: MTK boss Kitaka succumbed to Covid-19, Family reveals

KAMPALA: The C.E.O MTK Holdings, now the late Mr Francis Xavier Kitaka succumbed to COVID-19, his family confirmed.

In a death announcement that has been released by the family, the bio chemist succumbed to Covid-19 on Saturday 12th September 2020 at 10:40 am at Mulago Hospital.

“The Kitaka Family with deep sorrow announce the death of their beloved brother, father, uncle, Grandfather Mr Francis X.S Kitaka Sr (86). Mr Francis X.S Kitaka was a Biochemist, Animal Health Expert, Industrialist, Businessman, Philanthropist and a devout catholic. He was the chairman of MTK Uganda Ltd, Chairman Emeritus of Cipla Quality Chemicals Industries Ltd, Chairman Tinosoft Ltd among others,” the announcement reads.

The announcement further explains that due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the program for his send-off will be held in a scientific way.

From Monday 14th to Thursday 17th, September 2020, online mass will be streamed live starting at 5pm.

On Friday 18th September 2020, a requiem mass will be held at Rubaga Cathedral starting at 2pm.

The philanthropist will then be buried on Sunday 20th September 2020 at Bunamwaya off Zzana-Entebbe road starting at 11am. The burial will however be private in a bid to observe the Ministry of Health guidelines on Covid-19.
