KAMPALA: A contingent of 12 players and 4 official from League Champions Nkumba University Volleyball Club were flagged off for Egypt on Wednesday by National Council of Sports Officials in Lugogo.The team is to represent Uganda in Confederation of African Volley Ball (CAVB) event.
Head of Communications & Corporate Affairs, Ismail Dhakaba Kigongo on behalf of NCS flagged off the team.
Nkumba and Vision Volleyball Club represented Uganda in the 29th Edition in Egypt. Nkumba finished 9th while VVC settled for 11th.
Youngsters Nakayo Bridget, Aluuta Rebbeca, Kansiime Emilly and Alungat Scovia are the rookies for the championship while, Veteran setter Eunice Nuwabigaaba alongside Namakobe Halima, Ikilai Cissy and Akanyo Agnes have been sidelined.
“Our target is to get into the quarter finals, said Assistant Coach Godwin Ssenyondo.
Egypt’s Al Ahly SC are the defending Champions of the competition.
The 30th Edition of the CAVB event starts on March 16-25, 2019 in Cairo – Egypt.
