KAMPALA: Communications sector newcomer, Lycamobile is facing social media troll as subscribers are complaining for days about the telecom’s poor and erratic network.
Many customers say they are experiencing lengthy downtimes in which they cannot browse the internet due to extremely slow internet speeds.
Other users have condemned the telco’s terrible internet connection for the past few days— expressing disappointment at the network’s very slow internet speed.
Lycamobile has since declined to acknowledge the slow internet services but subscribers have demanded that the firm rolls over the data they were unable to use due to the bad internet services.
“When I bought Lycamobile at their headquarters, I found a very big line of waiting customers. Being a busy person, I was forced to incur in extra charges to get the line so quick,” one of the clients, journalist Nelson Mandela wrote in a horrifying testimony, adding that “Should you test their convincing tongue, just like me, you will think you have settled your internet challenges, the fact that bundles are relatively affordable.”
Mr Mandela added, “However, having reached at my home in Makindye, Kampala, till to date, I regret the time I invested in purchasing. There’s no any other telecom company with such a poor network like Lycamobile in Uganda.”
Although the cause of the slow services remains uncertain, outage came as police resumed enforcing coronavirus containment rules, meaning, thousands of people could be working from home.
The slow services was spotted by users for the past few days—with many going to network status monitoring website Down Detector, as well as social media, to report issues.
Lycamobile is yet to issue any statement.
