BUSHENYI: The Police in Ishaka, Bushenyi District in conjunction with National Water and Sewage Cooperation (NWSC) officials have arrested four suspected robbers over vandalism and robbery of water meters from people’s homes and business areas.
This follows several complaints raised by residents of Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality about the vandalism and theft of their water meters.
On Thursday 13th October, Police together with officials from NWSC carried out an operation to crack down criminal activities that involved burglarizing and trading several NWSC materials in scrap deals that have been rampant in the municipality.
According to Police, during the operation, three men and one 50-year-old female were arrested after being found in possession of NWSC materials in areas of Kabirisi, Basajabalaba, Rwemirokora, and Kizinda.
“The three men and one female who is in her late 50s were arrested in areas of Kabirisi, Basajabalaba, Rwemirokora, and Kizinda after being found in possession of water meters, gate valves, meter stands, elbows and taps. Others were recovered from scrap stores and hardware houses,” Police stated.
Officials from NWSC also said that the operation was a win for them as a joint team in their bid to serve the public.
“This operation was a success for us as a joint team in our attempt to serve our clients better,” the officials said.
The four suspects were later taken to Ishaka Police Station located in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality and are currently under custody as Police continue with investigations.
