KAMPALA: Police in Kampala metropolitan has embarked on a manhunt of unknown assailants who attacked Bishop Zac Niringiye in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb.
A viral video making rounds on social media indicate the man of God lying unconscious on the road side being helped by Good Samaritans.
According to Police. the incident happened at Commercial Road, near Rock View Hotel.
Niringiye was jogging at midday during the time of attack.
“The Police at Ntinda are currently investigating a robbery incident that took place on July 29, 2024,” Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said.
“It has been reported that Rtd Bishop Zac David Niringiye, a resident of Kimera Road, Village 12, Ntinda Parish in Kampala, was attacked while on his midday jog.”
He added that the retired Anglican bishop was struck with a blunt object, causing him to lose consciousness and fell to the ground, during this attack, his iPhone 13 Pro Max was stolen.

Incidentally, it was a deja vu kind of incident for Niringiye, who in 2021 sustained injuries after thugs him with a brick on the head before robbing him of a mobile phone.
Police says they have embarked on investigations to apprehend the masterminds of Niringiye attack.
“Efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing, and we are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice,” Owoyesigire said.

Niringiye came to the limelight when he retired from Anglican Church where he served as Assistant Bishop of Kampala and embarked on activism shortly after the 2011 elections.
He was behind the Black Monday movement in 2012, where he highlighted many corruption scandals in his weekly Black Monday weekly magazine.
