LUGAZI: Police in Lugazi is holding several people in connection with the murder of a 24-year old pork roaster, Emmanuel Kayima.
Kayima’s met his death on the morning of February 25, 2019 at Lugazi Railway Fields, where the deceased had allegedly gone to sell pork during a music concert by artist David Lutalo.
Sources say the late engaged in a scuffle with some other unidentified people roasting meat at the scene of crime.
Regional Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto confirmed the incident.
She said Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOS) visited the scene and found Kayima’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood in a garden not far from the music concert venue.
The deceased had a deep cut on lower thigh of the right leg. His body was taken to Kawolo Mortuary for postmortem to ascertain the actual cause of death.
Butoto declined to divulge more details but said arrests had been made.
“We feel it’s too early to reveal their identities because others are on the run. I can only confirm arrests made in the matter,” Butoto said.
The suspects are currently detained at CPS Lugazi awaiting screening to process further inquiries Under CRB 07/2019. They are expected to be charged in court soon for the capital offence.
