Police Shuffle: New IGP shakes up Police in new reshuffle

Newly appointed Inspector General of Police Mr Okoth Ochola yesterday Monday transferred senior officers in the new police reshuffle.
This follows Gen Kale Kayihura’s sacking where President Yoweri Museveni appointed Ochola as the new IGP, replacing his former boss.

In a letter dated March 5th and addressed to the Directorate of Human resource, Superintendent of Police (SP) Patrick Onyango is the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP).

SP Luke Owoyesigyire has been acting as the KMP publicist.

This position fell vacant after Emilian Kayima was promoted to Police spokesperson, replacing Asan Kasingye.

The shake-up, which was done on Monday covers districts of Ibanda, Rukiga, Kasese, Ntungamo, Kamuli, Busia, Abim, Luweero, Kamwenge, Sheema, Mbarara, Masindi, Soroti, Ngora, Bukedi, Kamuli and Buvuma among others.

Regions like Savannah, Wamala, Kampala Metropolitan area and various police departments have been affected as well.

According to Ochola’s statement, SSP Rogers Chebene is now the District Police Commander (DPC) for Ibanda. He has been in Buvuma.

Ochola has also made SP Edward Kyalingonza the new deputy Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Wamala. He was in Savannah.
SPs Edrisa Kyeyune and Jaffar Magyezi have been taken to Kabalagala and Mbarara, having completed courses.

SP Emmanuel Ebyangambirwe is the new deputy RPC for Savannah after being transferred from the Human Resource Department.
Ochola has also transferred SP John Mwaule from Human Resource Management to serve as DPC Rukiga while SP Andrew Siime will join the Filed Force Unit.
