Police Constable, Benon Matsiko, attached to Kira Road police station was presented to the media by newly appointed police spokesperson, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
“We have paraded this driver for public accountability. It took long because the footage wasn’t clear. We condemn misconduct,” Mr Kaweesi said while addressing the media at police head quarters in Naguru.
An NTV video last month showed a police patrol truck shove an unidentified man who was among the crowd waving to FDC’s Dr Kizza Besigye last month. The police however had since failed to identify the driver or the truck despite this newspaper identifying the number plates of the police vehicles that were trailing Dr Besigye.
Mr Fortunate Habyara, the commandant of the police Professional Standards Unit (PSU), earlier said they had failed to identify the exact vehicle that deliberately knocked the civilian.
