Najjera police arrest burglar as accomplices flee

Yasin Kayiza

KAMPALA: Najjera Police Station is holding a suspect identified as Yasin Kayiza after his colleagues fled a thieving scene, leaving him and car behind.

Investigators say the burglars went to the home of James Nakissa at Bulabila Kamwanyi Zone before breaking into his house using machetes.

However, their luck suddenly faded when Nakissa returned home at 2pm while returning his children from school.

“When the other two thugs heard Nakissa introducing himself as the owner of the home, they took off and jumped over the perimeter fence leaving their colleague who was driving. He was arrested and car impounded,” a police source said.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident.

Onyango said by the time Kayiza was arrested, his colleagues were ferrying from the house, electronics and some household items in a Toyota Wish, registration number UAZ 174Z.

The suspect is currently detained at Najjera Police Station on charges of house breaking and theft as hunt for his colleagues continues.
