Museveni orders siege on Besigye over Mumbere links

Rattled by the tension triggered by the arrest of the Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere, President Museveni has ordered that the movements of opposition kingpin Kizza Besigye be curtailed.

Worried that Dr  Besigye might join the disenchanted subjects of Rwenzururu Kingdom, Museveni today morning ordered that his rival be denied access to the Magistrates Court in Jinja where King Mumbere was going to appear for mention of his case.

It is believed that Gen Museveni radioed his orders to the Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura who in turn directed the Flying Squad officers to storm Jinja Magistrates Court and whisk away Dr Besigye.

In line with the orders,Dr Besigye was picked up by both uniformed and plain-clothed security operatives from the Jinja Magistrates Court and driven at break-neck speed to his home in Kasangati town.

Dr Besigye has allied with the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Winnie Kizza and all the six FDC MPs from the Rwenzori Region to whip up emotions amongst the bakonzo ahead of King Mumbere’s trial over murder and terrorism charges.

The Leader of Opposition, the Kasese MPs and Dr Besigye had also marshalled a legal team led by top city lawyer Caleb Alaka and a team of doctors led by Dr Baluku John to ensure all is well with King Mumbere.
