JUST IN: Former Monitor Reporter Risdel Kasasira Killed in Masaka Road Crash

MASAKA: Former Daily Monitor security reporter Risdel Kasasira has perished on Masaka Road following an accident.

Mr Kasasira and his family was returning from the village in Lyantonde District, when they were involved in an accident.

Detail of the fatal crash are still scanty but the Traffic and Road Safety Police spokesperson Michael Kananura has confirmed to the Daily Post that Kasasira was killed on the spot.

Mr Kananura said a woman and a child who were in the same car are alive.

Mr Kasasira was averse to driving so it is believed his wife was behind the wheels.

Mr Kasasira reported security for Daily Monitor for several years, covering the war against Al-Shabaab terrorists in Somalia and UPDF incursions into DR Congo, among others.

Quiet and calm with large white eyes, Kasasira and Richard Wanambwa were almost inseparable, with the latter his best man when he wedded his wife in 2018.

Among the duo’s major’s scoops was the Sejusa letter and revelations of the so-called Muhoozi Project when they published the contents of General David Sejusa’s missive that alleged a plot to eliminate top officials in security and government.

The two landed in trouble with the State for the story, with Daily Monitor being closed for two weeks as security searched for evidence related to Sejusa’s missive.

Mr Kasasira has been a Managing Partner at EagleOnline news website and a stringer with AP news agency.
