BUKOMANSIMBI: There is a dispute between Bukomansimbi LC V Chairperson, Muhammad Katerega and the Resident District Commissioner, Zephaniah Mukasa Kityo over office space. The dispute stems from a decision by the district to deny the RDC space on their newly built district headquarters.

Bukomansimbi district moved to its newly built headquarters last month from rented premises in the town council where it was operating since its inception in 2010.  The district declined to provide space for the RDC’s office, which operates in rented premises.

Haji Muhammad Kateregga, the Bukomansimbi LC V Chairperson, says they arrived at the decision following the failure by government to construct an office for the RDC, even after the district providing free land.

He says they spared two out of the ten acres acquired for their district headquarters to accommodate the RDC’s office and Central Police Station.

He says the RDC didn’t contribute even a penny for the years they shared rented premises, which irritated the district authorities. Kateregga explains that it is not the responsibility of the district to provide the RDC office space.

But the Bukomansimbi Resident District Commissioner, Zephaniah Mukasa Kityo insists that he has spent over seven years using the district headquarters and they ought to move together especially that they have relocated to their own buildings.

Kityo says he will soon relocate and occupy any available space at the district.
