Dismiss charges against me – Events Promoter Bajjo asks Court

Events Promoter Andrew Mukasa also known as Bajjo has asked Buganda Road Magistrates Court to dismiss charges against him of inciting violence and offensive communication.

Mr Mukasa appeared yesterday before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s court with the hope of having the charges against him dismissed due to lack of prosecution as previously promised by the trial magistrate, Ms Stella Amabilisi.

However, he was surprised when his case file was taken before another magistrate, Ms Marion Mangeni, who informed him that the trial magistrate was not around and thus adjourning the matter to January 13 next year.

“Your honour, I am tired of coming here every time without seeing any progress in the case. The prosecution has no case against me,” Mr Mukasa shouted on top of his voice.

In the previous hearing, Mr Mukasa through his lawyer had asked court to dismiss his case saying the matter was brought way back in June this year thus the state ought to have had the police file. The state had indicated that they did not have a police file thus seeking for an adjournment which court granted on condition that failure to present her witnesses at the next hearing, the case would be dismissed.

In June 2019, prosecution alledges Bajjo for inciting violence at various places in Masaka, Kampala and Banda against the person of the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. It further says that in those areas, thru disturbed through peace and privacy of the President.

Prosecution further alledges that Bajjo recorded a video using his phone and posted it on social media saying that he wanted to overthrow the legitimate government of Uganda before 2021 elections.
