MANAFWA: Two Manafwa district councilors are amongst seven people who have died in today’s early morning accident, Thursday, 14th, November which happened at Jinja district along Iganga-Jinja highway.
The accident involved Taxi Reg No. UBP 574J from Mbale heading to Kampala in which the councilors were in with Fuso truck registration number UAF 333B.
According to James Mubi, the Kira region police spokesperson, the Taxi knocked a stationery Truck which had parked by the roadside after developing mechanical problem.
The councilors are John Wangolo, representing Weswa Sub County and Godfrey Kabaale representing Manafwa Town Council.
According to Isaac Matanda, the Manafwa District Speaker, the two and others were in that taxi vehicle heading to Kampala for their personal businesses.
He urged his fellow councilors to remain calm as they wait for the bodies to be brought back saying more will be communicated after.
Mubi confirmed the accident saying other eight who got injured are getting treatment from Jinja Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition.
He says that identities of other people who perished and got injured have not yet been known.
Mubi says that police is still investigating the cause of the accident.
