KAMPALA – Kyadondo East MP Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, as well as Hon Francis Zaake of Mityana Municipality are set to travel abroad for treatment.
A source close to the musician cum politician said, “Finally Bobi Wine cleared to travel. But we can only be sure when his flight takes off. He’s on the way to Entebbe Airport.”
The source added, “Hon.Zaake is still recording a statement; it is not yet clear if he too will be permitted to travel.”
The two legislators were on Thursday arrested by security at Entebbe Airport as they attempted to leave the country.
Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake was intercepted in the afternoon at the Airport as he attempted to catch a flight to India for treatment, while Bobi Wine was arrested later in the evening.
Police later said in a statement that Zaake was arrested after he escaped from lawful custody in Arua Regional Referral hospital where he was receiving treatment two weeks ago.
“This morning police found Hon Zaake at Entebbe Airport trying to flee the country and accordingly apprehended him. He will be produced to court at an appropriate time,” Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima said on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile for Bobi Wine, sources say have linked him to gay funders, with reports indicating that he is using the trip abroad to meet his gay funders in the United States of America. His camp has meanwhile dismissed the claims.
Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima did not confirm or deny reports that the Members of Parliament had been cleared to travel. He said “Wait for my word.”
