The increasing number of motor accidents along Maska road this month has put both the police and road construction officials on the alert to pay more attention to danger areas on the road, however little has been done to prevent fatal accidents in these dark spots.
Today morning another accident claimed one person and injured eight people on Masaka-Kampala road.
The incident happened at about 4:20 am on Saturday between Lwera and Nabyewanga in Mpigi District.
The deceased has only been identified as Yaweh.
The accident involved a truck Reg. No UAN 598-S which was carrying bananas and another truck Reg. No. UAX 307 loaded with sand.
Katonga Regional Traffic Officer Fabian Betubiza said the injured were taken to Gombe Hospital.
Black spot
Over 40 people have perished in road accidents last month and most of the deaths were recorded on Kampala –Masaka highway and the latest occurred on Wednesday night at Kamutuuza village in Bukulula sub-county, about 12 km to Masaka Town, where nine people perished and 16 others injured.
Most of the accidents happened at a section between Maya-Katende and Nabyewanga Trading Center near Lwera swamp at the border of Mpigi and Kalungu Districts.
