CAIRO: Uganda Cranes team will resume training today in the evening at the Arab Contractors Stadium in Cairo as they prepare for the round of 16 match with Senegal due this Friday at Cairo International Stadium, Fufa officials have said, indicating that skipper Denis Onyango will be fine for the match.
The Uganda-Senegal tie was confirmed following the completion of group C matches on Monday night as Senegal thrashed Uganda’s neighbours Kenya 3-0.
Uganda finished second in group A with four points behind tournament hosts Egypt and were to face the second team in group C.
A brace from team captain Sadio Mane and a goal from Ismaila Sarr was all the Lions of Teranga needed to beat Kenya in their Group C Day three clash to cement their place at the next round.
Algeria topped the group on the maximum nine points, three richer than Senegal with Kenya on three points. Tanzania finished at the bottom pointless.
Kenya will have to wait till all groups complete their games to learn if they may scrap through as one of the four best third place teams.
